About our faith
The gospel of Jesus Christ
Millions of people know the gospel about Jesus. They are familiar with the stories about Him, as described in the Bible. But there is more!
Jesus gives people vision on God's intention with man and creation and enables them to answer to it. All his words and acts are aimed at that.
In our congregation this gospel of Jesus is at the centre in word and act.
In the Old Testament God reveals Himself as the Creator of heaven and earth, the origin of all things.
In the New Testament Jesus gives us vision on the nature of God, his Father. He says: He who has seen Me has seen the Father. In his life He shows that God is solely good, full of love and grace.
For all eternity God wants to be connected in love with mankind. Jesus incites all people to give themselves completely and to do their best for this purpose, out of love-in-return for God.
The Bible teaches that man is a being of spirit, soul and body, created after God's image. The body, the outward man, belongs to the visible, the natural world: the earth. The inner man (spirit and soul) belongs to the invisible, the spiritual world: the heaven.
Because of this every human being lives in two worlds at the same time during every moment of the day, whether he is aware of it or not. When God created man, he has 'received' everything, from the beginning onward, to be connected with God and to build up a solid relationship with Him on the basis of love.
Jesus also teaches that an adversary goes around in the spiritual world, the devil, who wants to keep people back from cooperating with the plan of God and who leaves no stone unturned to have their life fail.
Jesus links up all disaster, all misery, all disease and all evil with this source.
He calls the devil 'the father of lies'.
Satan and his demons approach man from the invisible world and try to thwart him in all sorts of ways and to tempt him to sin.
By committing sins a separation between God and man comes into being in the spiritual world. When this keeps on repeating itself, man more and more becomes a stranger to his God.
Work of Jesus
Because of the meassage of Jesus Christ and his work on the cross of Golgotha, it is possible to receive forgiveness of sins for all people, and, reconciled again, to be reunited with God.
By the healing words of Jesus that are charged with the power of God's Spirit, every tie with the devil and his realm can be broken and all damage that has arisen because of this, can be disposed of.
Jesus can again totally heal every human being in body, soul and spirit, by which this person can start to comply with God's original intention with his life.
As a matter of course?
This work of Jesus is not passing off automatically. It asks for personal faith, love, loyalty, effort... Jesus does not work without us, but at all times together with us. He appeals to everything that God has created in us.
In this process that leads towards 're-formation', we can distinguish various steps. We shall mention the most important ones.
Every man that wants to experience the peace of God's kingdom, will have to be converted. To turn away internally from all that does not come from God: sin and iniquity. And to completely turn himself towards everything that belongs to God: truth, righteousness, immaculacy, purity, honesty.
This step needs to go together with a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Redeemer and Saviour, as the one who forgives sins. The Lord cannot take this step for you. It is your own choice.
The man who is converted, receives a new life from Jesus. In the spiritual world he is tranferred from the realm of Satan to the kingdom of God. He becomes a child of God.
This new life may take shape in all fibres of his existence by an intense contact with Jesus: in thinking, in speaking, in all his doings, etc.
Baptism in water
The gospel calls on the reborn man to be baptized by immersion in water. By this the believer declares that the old things have passed away and that the new things have come. He declares that he has died with Christ and resurrected from the dead with Christ and that he wants to start doing everything God wants him to do in communion with Jesus.
Baptism in Spirit
The Lord wants to answer this clear declaration of man by baptizing him in holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, an event that is determined and performed in the spiritual world. Every reborn man may ask the Lord for this in his prayers. By doing so a relationship between Him and man comes into being, which is comparable to a marriage: then we are one spirit with Him. All sources of our existence will then be united in the essence of all that is in Jesus. Then the Lord can completely develop his work in our life.
Baptism in water and baptism in holy Spirit go together. Together they express the covenant that God wants to make with man. Then our life is hidden with Christ in God.
In the new relationship man, under the authority of Jesus, can develop into a strong, well-balanced, spiritually perfect and mature human being, a son of God. In such people God can become 'all in all'.
This development obviously requires the necessary time; it is a growth-process. With that spiritual food is necessary, guidance, pastoral care... Jesus hands all this in his congregation in concrete form.
The Bible describes the congregation as a body of which Jesus is the head
and of which we may be living members.
God wants reborn people to join a local congregation and to do their best for the complete realization of his intention in their life, under the authority of Jesus.
To the glory of God
In our meetings we want to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in all its fullness, to practise and start to live in it completely... so that Jesus can complete his work in us and that God, our Creator, can be given all the glory.
Therefore we give Him and Jesus all honour, thanks, glory and tribute, in song and in music, in word and in prayer, with all our heart and life.
Undoubtedly you will still have some questions. Perhaps even doubt or unbelief. Do not leave it at that. Talk about it. Make an appointment with us. Come to one of our meetings and listen with an open heart to the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ.
We believe that also for you this full gospel is of great value.
Give it a chance!
Come and see! Come and go with us!
